Multiple players per page

You can include as many instances of a button or player as you want on a single HTML page.

Think of each instance of a button or player as if it were a JPG image. The difference being that more HTML code is required to display a Flash "thing" than a JPG image.

Overview

When including two players on the same page, be sure that each player has a unique "name/id" in the HTML for each player... so that the browser doesn't freak out.

Example:

For player #1:

<object classid=...blah... id="wimpy_1" ...blah.../>
<param ... blah... />
<embed src=...blah... name="wimpy_1" ...blah.../>

For player #2:

<object classid=...blah... id="wimpy_2" ...blah.../>
<param ...blah... />
<embed src=...blah... name="wimpy_2" ...blah... />

Notice that each player instance requires both an <object> tag and <embed> tag. (The <param> tags are actually part of the <object> tag). The <object> tag is used for Mozilla-based browsers, and the <embed> tag is used for Internet Explorer type browsers.

Details

Since more than one instance of the same interactive Flash "thing" (i.e. Wimpy) is being used on the page, you must distinguish each instance of Wimpy from the others within the HTML so that the browser doesn't freak out.

When including multiple Wimpy's on the same page, be sure that each Wimpy instance has a unique "name/id" in the HTML for each player... We also recommend moving the reference to the MP3 file (and any other wimpy-specific configurations into the "flashvars" section of the HTML code... this will minimize load time on your page.

In order to display one Wimpy instance, two tags are required -- an <object> tag and an <embed> tag. The <object> tag is used for Internet Explorer-based browsers and the <embed> tag is used for Mozilla-based browsers. Within the <object> tag there is a reference to an "id" attribute, which must be unique for each instance of Wimpy. Within the <embed> tag there is a "name" attribute which must be unique for each instance of Wimpy.

So, for each instance of Wimpy the <object's> "id" and <embed's> "name" attribute must be the same for each Wimpy instance, but different from other Wimpy instances.

Example:

The following example illustrates how to include two Wimpy Button instances on a single page, where player #1 uses the id/name of "wimpy_1" and player #2 uses the id/name of "wimpy_2." The setup is the same when placing two Wimpy MP3 Player instances on a page, the only difference being that the "flashvars" attribute is different for Wimpy Button than for Wimpy MP3 Player. Be sure to use the Customizer tool to generate your initial HTML code before altering the id / name attributes.

For player #1:

<!-- Wimpy Button Code -->
<object classid="clsid:D27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000" codebase="http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=6,0,47,0" width="30" height="30" id="wimpy_1">
<param name="movie" value="http://www.youtsite.com/wimpy/wimpy.swf" />
<param name="quality" value="high" />
<param name="bgcolor" value="#6A7A95" />
<param name="flashvars" value="theFile=http://www.yoursite.com/mp3s/file1.mp3" />

<embed src="http://www.youtsite.com/wimpy/wimpy.swf" flashvars="theFile=theFile=http://www.yoursite.com/mp3s/file1.mp3" width="30" height="30" quality="high" bgcolor="#6A7A95" pluginspage="http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" name="wimpy_1" />

</object>
<!-- End Wimpy Button Code -->

For player #2:

<!-- Wimpy Button Code -->
<object classid="clsid:D27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000" codebase="http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=6,0,47,0" width="30" height="30" id="wimpy_2">
<param name="movie" value="http://www.youtsite.com/wimpy/wimpy.swf" />
<param name="quality" value="high" />
<param name="bgcolor" value="#6A7A95" />
<param name="flashvars" value="theFile=http://www.yoursite.com/mp3s/file2.mp3" />

<embed src="http://www.youtsite.com/wimpy/wimpy.swf" flashvars="theFile=theFile=http://www.yoursite.com/mp3s/file2.mp3" width="30" height="30" quality="high" bgcolor="#6A7A95" pluginspage="http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" name="wimpy_2" />

</object>
<!-- End Wimpy Button Code -->

Notice that each player instance requires both an <object> tag and <embed> tag. (The <param> tags are actually part of the <object> tag). The <object> tag is used for Mozilla-based browsers, and the <embed> tag is used for Internet Explorer type browsers.
